We are looking for an experienced Support Worker (Relief) to join our Floating Support Service in Merthyr Tydfil. This job offers a pay rate of £10.00 per hour - other benefits are listed below.
What you'll do
To provide a flexible and targeted floating housing related support service to tenants who live in Ty Cwm or in their own homes in the community. Tŷ Cwm provides an accommodation option to people over 55 in the Merthyr area supporting independence in later life, or where physical disability or sensory impairment impact on their abilities to take an active role in their community. You will be supporting people to maintain their accommodation and achieve independent living.This will include assisting social inclusion, support to manage their tenancies/accommodation; budgeting; accessing education; training and employment; increasing awareness of their community and improve skills to live independently.
What you'll need
You will need a good standard of education, a qualification in Social Care or related discipline would be an advantage.
You will have experience of working directly with older people who are vulnerable, due to learning and/or physical disabilities or mental health issues. Experience of working in a community setting would be desirable.
You will have knowledge of local resources/advice services appropriate to the client group.
You will need excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and build supportive relationships, to respond appropriately to their needs.
You will need a full current driving licence and access to own vehicle with a willingness to work flexibly.
