We currently have an exciting and rewarding vacancy opportunity for a Support Work Assistant to join an established staff team within Cardiff. You will provide support for young people from 16 to 21 years old, living in supported accommodation.
This a permanent role working 36 hours per week.
You will work shifts as part of a 3 week rolling rota that will include but not exclusive to following shift pattern:
2 x 8am – 8pm shifts and the remainder of hours working either a 8am – 2pm, 2pm – 8pm or 11.30am – 8pm shift. You will also be required to work one weekend in three.
You will need to be flexible in relation to hours worked to be able to meet the needs of the individuals support and the service.
What you'll do
This is a challenging, fast paced, rewarding role for the right person. You will be supporting young people who may have complex support issues and can challenge services. The young people being supported may be affected by ACE's, Trauma, PTSD or has faced other difficulties within their short lives. You will be expected to work within a physiologically informed environmental framework, working in a trauma informed way. You will play a key role in support and assist with practical skills in helping young people achieve their identified person centered support plan goals plans developed in conjunction with Support Workers. The plan will identify key goals in regard to education, employment, budgeting, practical necessary skills and knowledge to build resilience to confidently allow them to go forward to achieve their outcome and manage a tenancy independently in line with Housing Related Support funded outcomes.
What you'll need
To be successful in this role you will have experience of supporting individuals with varying complex support needs. You will need excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and build supportive relationships.
A qualification in Social Care or related discipline is desirable but not essential.
You will need a full, current driving license and use of a vehicle.
