We are searching for a talented Research and Innovation Specialist who will be a key part of Side-By-Side, our unique research and innovation unit, powered by Hafod.
As Side-By-Side enters its second year, and the next stage of its evolution, the Innovation Specialist role will be instrumental in defining and delivering more meaningful innovations that tackle the big issues in society and deliver on Hafod’s purpose to make lives better.
What you’ll do
As Side-by-Side’s Innovation Specialist you will find effective new solutions to societal problems, working closely with communities, partners and colleagues.
You will uncover fresh insights, ask lots of bold questions and motivate others to support you in designing, prototyping and scaling new initiatives.

We are recruiting this role alongside a complementary Innovation Projects Coordinator role, which will look after the ‘how?’ ‘where?’ and ‘when?’ of innovation, while you look after the ‘what?’, ‘why?’ and ‘who?’
What you’ll need
We need somebody resourceful and empathic who can match the passion and values that are infused through Side-by-Side. You’ll thrive managing multiple projects with multiple stakeholders, applying design thinking and innovation tools and methodology.
With strong communication skills and knowledge of research and insight gathering, you will identify meaningful problems to solve through the eyes of the people experiencing them. You will use your experience of innovation approaches and tools to develop and test new solutions through creative experiments. And you will help to take the solutions that work on a small scale to a bigger scale, making more and more lives better in the process.
£31,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience
